Work starts again on the A-355 road between Coin to Casapalma

WORK has started again on the A-355 road between Coin and Casapalma (Cartama). This road will eventually connect to the A-366 between Ronda and Coin, making it easier to travel from the Sierra de las Nieves area and the whole of the Guadalhorce Valley to Malaga city, as well as creating a direct link inland between Marbella and Malaga.

The day after the Junta de Andalucia Delegation of Public Works made the announcement that work, which had been at a standstill for several months, was due to commence again, Coin Town Hall approved a motion from the conservative Partido Popular to hold more citizen protests to demand it be completed.

The work has already been delayed by two years and is now facing Junta de Andalucia budget cuts.

Also this week, the Junta admitted that the work planned for the A-387 between Fuengirola, Mijas and Alhaurin el Grande will not go ahead because there is not enough money available.

The Junta said in a letter to Mijas Town Hall, which has been demanding that the work go ahead, that although €2.6 million had been assigned to a project to repair the road, the Council for Public Works and Housing had decided to “reschedule” the work due to “budgetary needs”.
