A MUNICIPAL employee in El Puche was injured while heading to work after he was hit by a large stone which was allegedly thrown by some youths as a prank.
The Urbaser cleaning company employee was heading to the night shift on his motorbike when the stone was thrown at him in Calle Mare Nostrum in Almeria city. The impact cracked his helmet and caused a large wound from his chin to his nose which required eight stitches.
When he arrived at work covered in blood the emergency services were called and he was taken to Torrecardenas Hospital and is now on leave.
This ‘pastime’ is reportedly nothing new amongst youths in the area who throw stones at cars and other vehicles, including Urbaser lorries.
The man injured this time told the local press that he was lucky to have been wearing a helmet, otherwise, he says, he may not have lived to tell the tale. He has reported the incident to the National Police and hopes that maybe this may prevent others from getting hurt.
