IN Palmanova and Magaluf, 80 per cent of hotels are closed this winter. This offers a “poor and devastating” image of Mallorca’s tourist resorts, criticized tourism and retailers association Acotur.
It is a “shame” that with “sunny days, that many Scandinavian, British and Russian tourists would love to enjoy, that eight out of ten hotels are closed,” said Acotur president Pepe Tirado.
Mallorca faces a “difficult” winter following a “failure to promote the area and increase flights and package tours.”
