THE number of households in Almeria province where all members are unemployed has risen by 400 per cent in the past four years.
There are 1,232,900 people unemployed in Andalucia, and almost half live with relatives in the same situation, which means that 14 per cent of the region’s homes have all members unemployed, in some cases without receiving any benefits.
The worst situations are in Almeria and Cordoba, while, although numbers have also risen in other provinces the figures are not so high.
According to a report by the General Workers Union (UGT) in Andalucia, since the financial crisis began the number of people on unemployment benefits has risen by 197 per cent in the region, while the average family expenditure has fallen by €1,358.
