Spraying problems

Dear Connie,
We have five cats (one male and four females) and nine months ago we took in a feral kitten.

Never a day went by without me shouting to my husband that the cats had sprayed! Plus if I saw them even lifting their tails I would throw a pillow or shout at them – so they were stressed as well.

I even had one cat put down because I caught her spraying. I didn’t realise their pee smelt similar to disinfectant, so the poor things have been going around spraying over my scents.

This was until I read one of your columns in which you explained how to put a stop to this problem and I started straight away by cleaning all areas with clean water/ then washing up liquid.

From that day on (touch wood!) there have been no accidents from any of the cars.

I would like you to publish this as you have saved us – hopefully it will continue.

Regards, Maureen.

Hello Maureen,

How kind of you to take the time to write to us about your experience.

I am delighted with your result and I hope that this has put an end to your problem, as life will be much more peaceful for both you and your cats. Spraying can be extremely annoying and the smell is very off-putting.

Thank you and regards, Connie
