MALAGA Provincial Government will carry out noise level measurements in Nerja after a request from the local town hall.
Numerous complaints have been received from residents regarding the noise caused by bars and discos in the main leisure areas, especially Plaza Tuttifrutti.
The provincial government will carry out acoustic contamination reports so that meetings between local residents and the owners of the offending establishments can be carried out as quickly as possible.
However, the Junta de Andalucia will be the body which has the last word on whether the area has excessive noise levels.
The Provincial representative for the Environmental Department, Juan Jesus Bernal, and the Mayor of Nerja, Jose Alberto Armijo, said they wanted the results as soon as possible so the problem could be resolved and so that the local leisure and tourism trade could become compatible with the need for rest of inhabitants and visitors.
