POLICE in Palma arrested two men believed to be responsible for a spate of bag-snatching incidents around the Plaza de España in the past weeks.
Some of the victims, mostly elderly women, were pushed to the floor by the thieves if they attempted to prevent them from taking their bags. Several sustained injuries due to the falls.
The men would steal their handbags and any valuable items they might be carrying. Thanks to witnesses, police determined that the same people were responsible for the robberies reported lately and that they worked as an organized pair.
National Police reported that the two men, who would follow their victims while they were walking in the city streets, had extensive criminal records and were remanded to prison after giving statements in court.
