The new APSA shop before the grand opening.
VOLUNTEERS were busy this week getting the new Animal Protection Society Albox (APSA) shop ready to open.
The new shop is bigger, brighter and has a better car park than the old premises according to shop manager Jackie Roberts (51) of Arboleas. Bob Cartwright (65) who “was an architect in a former life” worked with other volunteers to get the shop ready for its official opening which was due to happen.
In addition to proceeds from the sale of donated clothes, bed linen, toys, CDs and other items APSA raises around €150 a month from a raffle.
The prizes are donated by a bowling alley and a local grocery shop. The society also has an online shop selling “cute and fun animal inspired gifts”.
