PRIMARK is set to open a shop in Alicante in March. It will be located in the Gran Via Centre.
This will be the Irish fashion chain’s second shop in the Province and will create 178 jobs. The first store that opened in the Province was in the L’Aljub Shopping Centre in Elche in August 2010 creating 162 jobs.
In 2006, Primark opened its first store outside of Ireland and the UK in Madrid. Since then, the low-cost fashion chain continued its expansion and now has 25 stores in Spain.
Primark also now has five stores in Portugal, seven in Germany, three in the Netherlands and two in Belgium. This is in addition to the 156 stores in the UK and 38 in Ireland.
With this new store in Alicante, Primark will have 237 stores to its name in Europe.
Meanwhile, despite the economic crisis, the commercial sector continues to create work in the city, Alicante Town Hall has pointed out.
They informed business associations on Monday of the creation of an advice service for local businesses, according to councilor Belen Gonzalez.
This forum will serve to study what is most in demand in this sector.
