Pompey Gary sung like a donkey!

WITH modern day stresses, there are some individual characters whose sole mission it seems is to put a smile on one’s face.

One such person is Pompey Gary (so called due to being the Chairman on the Portsmouth Football Supporters Club in Spain).

Gary reached the age of 50 last Saturday, and for the occasion decided to dress up as a donkey/jockey and race down from Benalmadena Pueblo to the coast.

Having caught the attention of a passing Police patrol, nearly causing 2 traffic accidents and being chased by dogs he eventually arrived at a local bar in Mezquita Square, Arroyo de la Miel to be met by friends and family, numbering around 150 people.

Gary commented “I told a couple of friends that I might arrive on a donkey – I didn’t necessarily say it would be a real one! I think I would have looked silly on that!”

Gary, who shared the celebrations with his daughter who was 20 the following day, said “Thanks to all those who attended and made it a great evening.

The funny thing is the police had previously asked what I was doing on a donkey, to which I replied, Keeping within the speed limit and getting about 10 miles to the carrot!”
