DENIA council received a rare gift this month when Franciscan Father Enrique Oltra presented a collection of historical books to the public library.
The subject matter is based on a study of the work of religious orders in Latin America during the 16th and 17th centuries and includes items on the life of Fray Pedro Esteve, known as Pare Pere de Denia, instructor on the beatification process of the 17th century.
Other titles include, Denia and its contribution to the evangelisation and civilisation of America, Valencia Franciscans in America and the Philippines and three books on the blessed thirteenth century luminary, John Duns Scotus, who Father Oltra professes to have a, ‘special devotion.’ In accepting the collection on behalf of the local community, Denia Councillor Vincent Michelet Oltra said, It is a privilege to have someone living in the town with the cultural background of Enrique Oltra whose presence is admired throughout the Diocese.’
