ANDREW GRIFFITHS MP for Burton and Uttoxeter made a whistlestop visit to the Tamisa Golf Hotel (Mijas Costa) on Friday as the after dinner speaker at the Conservatives Abroad event.
Andrew said he was deeply humbled when he was elected two years ago and is a high profile politician in his area.
He was also listed recently in the ‘value for money’ MP’s based on his attendance in Parliament, questions asked and his constituency work.
Acting for the constituency which is the home of British beer and being Chairman of the All Party Beer Group he said that he was deeply disturbed by the pub closure rate of about 25 per week with the corresponding loss of jobs.
He is also concerned at the low price of supermarket drinks that encourages people to drink cheaply even before they go out to nightclubs etc and the hooliganism that follows, particularly on a Friday and Saturday.
Andrew related a number of amusing anecdotes which kept the guests firmly interested in his talk and was certainly well received by them.
Conservatives Abroad are holding their next event on March 23 with high profile guest speaker Eric Pickles MP.
Tickets from Social Events Secretary Georgina Hird on 951 318 262.
