POLICE patrolling Motril Port are forced to do so in a courtesy car since one of the patrol cars broke down.
There are in fact two patrol cars, but the other one is only used by the higher ranking officers. Meanwhile, the police on patrol are forced to use a plain grey car loaned to them by the Port Authorities.
They blame lack of planning at the port, but say this is just one of many problems they are having, as cutbacks have led to 12 young officers who were due to work there losing their jobs.
So they say they are now running on the bare minimum of 19 while just the Motril-Melilla ferry is giving them more work than they can deal with.
They are unable to control who enters the port and some damage has been caused, they claim.
