IF Spain is the Fiesta Centre of Europe, then the Province of Valencia is the Fallas centre of the World.
Intricate and superbly finished statues, some 3 stories high, costing thousands of Euros and taking a year to build fill almost every town in the Province each March.
There is much dressing up and parading behind marching bands, the children especially love it all.
The statues are awarded prizes and then as midnight ushers in the Spring Equinox, they are all set alight, naturally with lots of Spain’s second obsession – fireworks.
Lots and lots of noisy fireworks.
Where has the gloom of recession gone?
