RESIDENTS in El Ancon area of Carboneras are requesting urgent measures because the sea has reached some of their homes.
The collected more than 730 signatures which they gave to the town hall along with an extensive report about the situation, pleading that the administrations recreate the beach.
Over the years, the sand which was in front of their houses has disappeared, and the waves are lapping against some of the walls, leading to erosion.
Over the past year, no sand has been brought back to the area from other locations along the local coastline, and which although just a provisional measure, did help to prevent the sea getting to their houses.
The local mayor, Salvador Hernandez, and the Urban Development Councillor, met with the head of the provincial coastal service, Miguel Calleja, to discuss the situation.
The report about the situation was given to Calleja requesting that a definitive solution be found for this problem.
