Malaga EU capital for illegal sex pills

Malaga is one of the main distribution centres for illegal sexual enhancer pills sold to Europe, say Spain’s National Police and Guardia Civil.

China, Malaysia and Thailand are the main producers of the pills, which sometimes contain the same active ingredient as the official products, and promise to be natural remedies to enhance sexual performance despite not having approval by local health authorities.

In March 2011, four people were arrested in a major Guardia Civil operation against the sale of such substances, and 4,000 pills were seized.

Documents seized during the operation revealed that they had hundreds of clients.

Just last month, another six people were arrested by National Police and 110,000 doses of anabolic steroids and products claiming to improve sexual performance were seized in Torremolinos and Coin.

The Spanish Medicine and Health Products Agency had reported the presence of the products in Europe, but it wasn’t until recently that the authorities had identified Malaga province as a main distribution point.

The sales were mainly advertised on the internet, and the network uncovered in Malaga also supplied the goods to third parties to sell.

The deliveries were carried out by courier companies. In the most recent operation, police seized four vehicles and six properties worth €3.5 million.
