A COURT in Malaga has sentenced a man to seven months in prison for failing to stop a building project being carried out.
The Environmental Prosecutor was asking for nine months in prison for the man who was carrying out an extension on a shed on non-urban land in Frigiliana.
The local Urban Planning Council banned him from doing so in 2007, but he went ahead and the Environmental Prosecutor opened an investigation.
That year, the Guardia Civil found that the work was being carried out, and in December 2008, the Local Police found it was finished.
He was sentenced for disobeying an order.
At trial the accused said that he thought that as he had paid a fine, he could go ahead with the work.
