British man, 20, in Magalluf death fall

A BRITISH man died after falling from the stair-well at a Magalluf hotel.

Adam Atkinson from Castleford in West Yorkshire was staying at the three-star Hotel Martinique on Calle es Tirso de Molina and is believed to have celebrated his 20th birthday last Wednesday.

The tragedy happened shortly after 3am on Tuesday while reportedly climbing up the stair-well, reaching the third floor, before falling, injuring his head.

He was taken to San Espases Hospital in Palma de Mallorca where he died from head injuries three hours later.

On his Facebook page the following day he wrote: “I’m never drinking again … until Monday when we’re en-route to Magaluf,” the Yorkshire Evening Post reported.

Friend Becky Leonard wrote on her Facebook page: “RIP Adam Atkinson. Love you and your always gonna be in our hearts.”

Beth Wilford commented on Facebook: “He was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met, It’s true that they really do take the best. Thinking of his family and friends at such an awful time.”

Mr Atkinson is the second young Briton to fall from a height in a Spanish hotel this year.

The first was Luke Parry, a 21-year-old Oxford University student.

He remains in hospital after suffering severe injuries when he plunged from a second floor balcony at Lloret de Mar, on the Costa Brava (Barcelona area) earlier this month.
