DURING the first six months of this year, Malaga Port has seen a 14.7 per cent rise in the number of cruise ship passengers compared to last year. Almost 280,000 people visited the city on 130 cruises.
In the whole of Spain, the number of passengers to visit Spain on cruise ships fell by 3.47 per cent to 3.08 million people. Barcelona Port, one of the most important in the sector, received 9.44 per cent fewer cruise ship passengers between January and June than it did over the same period last year, while figures dropped by 31.6 per cent in the Balearic Islands, another popular destination.
