Construction of indoor swimming pool underway for early 2013

THE indoor swimming pool in Torre del Mar is set to be finished by March of next year according to Velez Malaga Mayor, Francisco Delgado Bonilla.

The mayor visited the construction site in Cerro del Aguila on Monday where the project is about 60 per cent complete.

“We would like construction to be completed within the first few months of 2013. Even now in the month of August work is being done so that we can have one of the best indoor swimming pools in all of Malaga province,” claimed Delgado Bonilla.

The overall budget for the installation is €3.4 million; €2.2 million will be covered by the town council and the remaining €1.2 million, by the Tourism Council of the Junta de Andalucia.

Plans consist of two pools: one, a semi-Olympic size will have eight lanes and measure 25 by 16.6 metres, with a depth of 1.8 metres, and the other will measure 16.5 by 8 metres with the shallow end at 0.80 metres depth and the deep end reaching 1.20 metres.
