Rubbish battle rages on

LOAD OF RUBBISH: Waste being dumped from one site to another.

COMPLAINTS over waste sites near La Marina Urbanisation led to a denuncia initiated by the two political parties in opposition to the PP and PIPN coalition in San Fulgencio.

The Mayor Carlos Ramirez consequently ordered waste tipped at the junction of Calle Alfredo Kraus and Camino del Convenio to be moved  to Calle del Bosque, near many other houses on the urbanisation.

Now photos taken of rubbish skips being unloaded “show the Mayor and the council has committed a serious ecological transgression by destroying an area of great natural beauty,” says APSFU and PSOE opposition councilors.

“In doing this we believe local and regional by-laws have been broken, transforming it into an unlicensed and illegal dump site. The damage that this will cause to the environment and the consequences to people living in the houses nearby through pollution, infestations and disturbance is immeasurable.”

However, the mayor has stressed the council is saving €540,000 a year on waste collection compared to the previous administration.
