Javea's first-ever Triathlon competition

THREE HUNDRED AND FOURTY athletes took part in the Javea’s first-ever Triathlon competition recently. Hundreds of spectators packed Arenal for the competition, featuring a 750-metre swim, a 20K cycling road race and a 5K run that nearly went horribly wrong when many of the spectators decided to run alongside the professionals, followed by teams of police trying to tackle them en-route. First across the finishing line was Isaac Lopez for the men and Ladies champion Flipo Michelle. Javea Mayor Jose Chulvi presented both with a cheque for €800 and a trophy.
