Rainfall not a hurdle for athletic competitions

BRAVE: “It was rainy and windy but we set a good record. I will be honoured if I am beaten in next editions,” the winner said.

AROUND 300 athletes coming from all around Andalucia took part in the ‘1st Half Marathon’ and the ‘10.5 km Ciudad de Mojacar’ competitions. Despite it was a rainy day in the Almeria town, participants were cheered along the urban race by hundreds of people wearing raincoats and umbrellas.

The winner in the half-marathon was Jose Javier Olea, Chief Police officer in the neighbouring town of Castell de Ferro, Granada. The event is organised by the town hall and the local hotel businesses, who are already thinking on the next edition.
