Fernando Ruiz Hierro sports centre in Velez-Malaga
FOUR MILLION EUROS has been budgeted for capital projects in Velez Malaga next year.
That means the town will be concentrating on finishing already started projects with just one new scheme planned.
The council will build a link road from the Fernando Ruiz Hierro sports centre to Caleta de Velez. Original plans were for a four lane highway costing three million euros, but they have been scaled back to two lanes at half the price. It is hoped to enlarge the road to its four lanes in future years.
Francisco Delgado, Mayor of Velez Malaga, said that the road is the key to projects of huge interest to the town, including the extension of the leisure and fishing port of Caleta, the environmental facility at finca La Pola and the Coviran centre for perishable foods.
