COUNCILLOR QUITS: Change at San Fulgencio council
SAN FULGENCIO PP Councillor Maria Asuncion Prieto has resigned from office.
She handed in her notice during a full council meeting. She said San Fulgencio needed a PP government and cited personal reasons for her decision to step down. Manuel Garcia, who was number nine of the PP candidate election list, is in pole position to replace her.
Speculation that the resignation would endanger the stability of the coalition government team was denied by PIPN Councillor Jeff Wiszniewski. He said: “There were concerns about it creating a rift within the coalition but far from it. We are all united.”
However he does admit the new councillor will be playing catch up. “He will be relatively new to the system but he is well known in San Fulgencio and it won’t be long before he is up to speed.”
