Malaga’s Golden Boy in waiting

GOLDEN BOY: Isco in the running for top award

MALAGA’S exciting young player Isco Alarcon is amongst the three finalists for the prestigious European Golden Boy award.

The prize names the best under-21 player in Europe. The Malagueno has made the final three along with Milan striker, El Shaarawi and Atletico de Madrid goalkeeper, Courtois.

The Golden Boy 2012, chosen by a panel of 30 journalists from 20 European countries, will be revealed just before Christmas. Meanwhile Malaga has qualified for the next round of the Spanish Cup.

Their 4-3 away victory in the first leg against Cacereño proved enough to send them through despite losing at home to a Chapi goal on Tuesday. More than 13,000 fans braved the chilly weather for the match, only to see Malaga lose 1-0. But the four away goals they had scored proved to be enough to see them through.

Malaga can travel to Getafe for Saturday’s match in good heart following their 4-0 home win against Valencia. That result puts them back into fourth place in the league.
