NEW blue zone parking areas have been set up in Marbella’s town centre. Streets where it used to be free to park from 2pm, including Avenida Miguel Cano and Calle Antonio Herrero, are now part of the pay zone areas.
In San Pedro de Alcantara’s municipal market area, however, it is the other way round. Blue zone parking has been changed to free parking, except from 8am to 2pm when it is meant for loading and unloading only.
According to Setex-Aparki, three months after they begun managing blue zones in both towns, the occupancy rate in these areas is almost 74 per cent. Out of those who park their vehicles there, 89 per cent pay the fee, the company reported.
