New attraction on the ski slopes

SLIDE DOWN: Weather forecast for this weekend in Sierra Nevada says it will be fine for skiing.

A NEW attraction is available at the Sierra Nevada ski station.

The Superparque Sulayr is a six metre high, 165 metre long, half-pipe for freestyle and snowboard experts. According to the resort’s managers it is the largest permanent half-pipe in Spain. It is located at the Loma de Dilar area of the Sierra Nevada.

For those who prefer regular skiing or snowboarding there are currently 30.5 km of runs available after new slopes and lifts were opened in Borreguiles, Veleta, Loma de Dilar and El Rio. According to the latest forecast there will be 20 to 40 centimetre thick powder snow, depending on the areas.

During the December 6 to 9 long weekend more than 28,500 users were recorded at the ski station, a daily average of 7,160. Hotel occupancy was 75 per cent, 10 per cent more than the last decade’s average.
