PILOTA: Player Hector during the Benissa Trophy semifinal
PILOTA is a game that still has many fans and followers in Alicante province.
Unlike the Basque verion, it is not played with a bat but with bare hands that have been reinforced with tape, as well as finger and palm protectors. Originally played in the streets – and sometimes still to be seen here – it is now more likely to take place in an indoor court or Trinquet.
