Malaga Airport: Top of the list
MALAGA is the third airport in Spain for the number of flights operated by low-cost airlines.
Almost 11 per cent of passengers travelling on budget airlines to and from Spain use the Malaga Costa del Sol Airport, which in the first 11 months of this year amounted to 3.7 million people.
However, this is a 2.1 per cent fall from the same period last year, according to the Tourism Research Institute.
Top of the list for the number of low-cost flights was Palma de Mallorca, with 6.3 million passengers, 18.2 per cent more than the same period last year. Next was Barcelona-El Prat, with 6.2 million passengers, almost 26 per cent more than last year.
Malaga Airport is sixth for the number of flights operated by traditional airlines.
