A 27-YEAR-OLD nurse from Malaga saved a boy’s life during a flight to Düsseldorf, Germany.
The child was taken ill mid-flight and suffered convulsions and a fever of 40ºC.
Nurse Virginia Valle volunteered to help as flight attendants asked if there was a doctor on board, as the child needed emergency treatment.
With the help of the attendants and the boy’s parents, an Italian man and a Belgian woman who spoke no Spanish and barely some English, the Spanish nurse managed to keep the child’s airways clear as he was in danger of choking. Virginia also used the limited medications on board to reduce the fever and calm the convulsions.
She stayed with them until the plane landed at Düsseldorf Airport, where the boy was taken to hospital. Virginia was repeatedly thanked by the parents for saving their son’s life.
