Suicide watch for baby death case man

A MAN accused of killing a baby girl is being held on suicide watch in a special secure unit for his own protection.

Jonathan Moya Gonzalez, aged 25, the alleged killer of sixteen-month-old girl Miriam in rural Almeria, was initially locked up at El Acebuche’s prison’s Arrival Unit on his December 29 admission.

Now he has been transferred to a Special Protection Unit due to the social impact of the crime, which puts him at risk of suffering violence at the hands of other inmates.

Moya is also on suicide-watch, meaning he is never alone and shares his cell with a ‘companion’ inmate – an inmate with a special trust from prison bosses – who is trained to act in case he tries to take his own life.

Also being held in the same unit is Raul RF who is alleged to have helped cover up the killing.

Moya was arrested after 100 policemen spent seven days searching for the missing girl.  Guardia Civil claim Moya confessed to the killing and told them where to find the body.
