TOURISM business figures in Fuengirola during 2012 were assessed as positive by Tourism Councillor Ignacio Souviron. The average occupation rate in three and four-star hotels during peak season was 85 per cent.
The Tourist Info Office received a daily average of 335 visits, mostly Spanish and British nationals.
Bar and restaurant terraces in Fuengirola increased by 5 per cent regarding 2011, when they had already grown 10 per cent.
Another positive figure pointed out by the Councillor was that, during summer, all Marina berths were occupied.
“Despite 2012 was the hardest year since the economic crisis started,” Souviron said, “results boost Fuengirola as one of the leading municipalities in tourism in the Costa del Sol.” Among 2013’s plans, he underlined the opening of several hotels with public funds.
