POLICE DISPLAY: Guardia Civil show some of the haul from an Albox raid
THREE PEOPLE have been arrested in connection with the vicious robbery of an elderly British couple at their home in Arboleas.
The victims, aged 71 and 74, suffered considerable injuries after being hit with a blunt object by an intruder at their home on November 3 last year.
A purse containing several bank cards and €260 in cash as well as a mobile phone were taken.
Guardia Civil later identified the holder of the stolen phone as 22 year old JMA, who was arrested along with his 20 year old partner DCC. A search of their Albox home revealed a phone as well as four handguns, €14,000, 31 grammes of cocaine and one kilogramme of marihuana.
Both were charged with possession of illegal weapons and drug-dealing, with JMA also being charged with an alleged violent robbery offence.
Further investigations found that JMA acquired the phone from 20 year old BPD, a British national living in Albox. A search of his house led to the recovery of a blunt object allegedly used in the robbery. BPD was arrested for an alleged violent robbery offence.
JMA and DCC have been remanded in custody after testifying at a Huercal-Overa court.
