THERE was some Christmas cheer for the jobless when figures revealed 3,178 fewer unemployed in Malaga province in December.
But although it was a fall on the previous month the jobless figure of 210,872 was still 15,873 higher than the same time in 2011. But in December 2011 the trend was rising with 195 people joining the dole queue, rather than decreasing like last month.
Of the new employees taken on 1,128 were people aged under 25, which is seen as good news with 21,000 people in that age group currently unemployed.
In Andalucia, nearly 27,000 people found a job in December. Currently, there are a total of 1.08 million job seekers in Andalucia. Unemployed decreased in all provinces.
