A MUM and her two young children aged three and five were rescued unconscious from a blazing flat.
Firefighters, who were alerted when a passerby spotted the flames, had to break in to save the family who had been overcome by fumes. They were rushed to Hospital Vega Baja, where the children were later released after treatment. Now the woman, aged 28, is on the mend and has been let out of intensive care. Her condition is described as stable.
The fire, the cause of which is being investigated by police, had started in the Calle Congresso, Orihuela, apartment. The passerby alerted a bar owner on the ground floor of the apartment block. He called the fire brigade while the bar and block of flats were evacuated.
