SERON Town Hall has won an award for an employment programme.
The council was named winner in the Progreso National Awards’ employment category for small towns
The Employment Promotion in Seron project was given rewarded in recognition of the council’s efforts to help the unemployed.
The council invested €2,500,000 in the project, which included a six month-long job-access programme.
Two skilled workers were taken on in permanent posts and six different labourers employed each month.
More jobs were later created as the council organised the construction of several buildings.
