Vueling pledge to keep Menorca connected

SPANISH airline Vueling, has pledged to put on the same number of flights as last year to keep Menorca connected to the mainland.

That is despite strong competition from Ryanair which last summer was offering similar flights at similar times but at lower prices on the Barcelona route.

From next summer, the Catalonian airline will offer a total of 639,520 seats in flights to or from the island, out of which 520,000 will serve Barcelona.  It was the Barcelona – Menorca service where Vueling faced the most competition from Ryanair.

Vueling will increase its Barcelona – Menorca service from the current two daily flights in each direction to five in May and will keep increasing the service to reach a maximum daily schedule of 12 flights in each direction in August.

It will also offer two daily flights from the island to Madrid between June and September, as well as nine weekly flights to Bilbao, and two weekly flights to Rome during the four summer months.
