MORE EXPENSIVE: The suburban train in Alora’s station.
TRAIN fare rises have been attacked in the provincial government.
The socialist PSOE party has tabled a motion against the 3 per cent rise on the Fuengirola to Malaga and Alora to Malaga lines.
Socialist member of the Malaga government Javier Garcia pointed out that there was a 13 per cent rise just seven months ago. “In a few months the ticket price has grown 16 per cent. Town halls in the Guadalhorce region were encouraged to promote the train with their own funds, but then residents have to carry the burden.”
A round-trip ticket to Cartama has increased from €3.15 to €3.90 in seven months. “As tickets continue to rise, it makes it very hard for our citizens to use this service,” Cartama Mayor Jorge Gallardo said.
