RELIGIOUS, satanic and sexual cults are flourishing in Almeria.

Sects frequently thrive during tough times and local membership is now estimated to be around 2,000.

Almeria province is continuing to face up to the tough economic surrounds, a situation that leads to cults flourishing, according to the Sect Studies Ibero-American Network.

The province now has among the highest prevalence of ‘pseudo-religions’ in Spain with an increase in satanic ritual practises, including the Children of Lucifer cult.

Other cults include pyramid structure companies that are alleged to cash in on members’ work and investment, and also sexual cults.

Dead animals with their throats slit, candles and inverted crosses as well as other satanic paraphernalia have been found in the Benahadux, Alhama de Almeria and Carboneras, it has been reported.

Satanic symbols and writings were also previous reported found in Cabo de Gata’s Las Salinas temple with the floor covered with a parchment that included meticulously-crafted symbols.

Jose Miguel Cuevas, a cult expert, said that  “a third of members leave cults by themselves; a smaller fraction leave with the help of a professional and a third group gets expelled because they are no longer useful to the organisation.”
