Meeting in Bedar raised agenda list
COMPLETION of the Almanzora dual carriageway and the work to straighten the main Vera-Garrucha road have been demanded by the Community of Levante Municipalities.
The two matters were raised at its last meeting in Bedar.
The mayors and representatives pointed out that both projects will help transport links between the western and eastern regions of Almeria province. It would improve the quality of roads for the marble and tourism industries that are sustaining the economy, they said.
There was also a request for financial help for municipalities affected by flooding last September so that businesses and suppliers that carried out repairs of flood damage could be paid.
Also discussed was the damage caused to sewage works by torrential rain that resulted in untreated water entering rivers and streams.
In addition the community asked Almeria provincial government to fund a doctor at Vera’s Centre for Drug Dependency so that it can stay open.
