WORKS STARTED: Road improvements will help clear jams
ALMERIA roads are to get a €340,000 boost, with a further €800,000 promised.
Almeria City Hall has passed a Central Government plan to completely remodel intersections and improve road signs. The aim is to reduce the number of accidents and traffic jams. So far seven bottlenecks and accident black spots in the city have been selected for modification in the €340,000 scheme.
The Spanish development Minister MP Miguel Ángel Castellón said: “This plan is incredibly important, and will greatly improve the traffic circulation on these roads, making it easier and safer to drive on them.”
Work is already underway in Viator where the principal remodelling will come in the way of changing T junctions to roundabouts, installing traffic lights and repainting zebra crossings. Work is estimated to take three months.
Castellón also disclosed that a future investment of €800.000 will further improve the whole 1,200 km stretch of city roads.
