Car thieve caught
TWO men and a woman were arrested in Benidorm and charged with stealing luxury cars.
The three recovered cars are worth approximately €180,000 police sources revealed.
They were intercepted by police while driving a BMW allegedly stolen in Italy.
The police investigation began last November after they stopped a Porsche and found the chassis number had been altered. Enquiries led them to the trio – a German, a Belgian and a Spanish woman – who allegedly belonged to a gang that stole top-of-the-range vehicles abroad.
These were brought to Spain and sold below their market value to ensure quick sales and evade detection.
Following the arrests, police searched two homes and found car-key blanks and tools including a die stamp for altering chassis numbers
They also found another car, a 1967 Ford Mustang.
