La Bajadilla Port, Marbella
DESPITE doubts over extension plans for La Bajadilla Port, Marbella aims to attract cruise ship passengers.
The delegation which attended the FITUR International Tourism Fair in Madrid held talks with BC Tours which organises activities for cruise ship passengers. Plans include visits to the OldTown, as well as shopping excursions to the town’s exclusive boutiques.
Many cruise ships currently drop anchor off Marbella, but passengers can only visit the town on smaller embarkations if the sea is calm. However, MarbellaCity Hall does not want to give up on a sector which could boost local finances. This is one of the main reasons why they are chasing Malaga CF owner Sheikh Abdul Bin Nasser Al-Thani, with whom plans to extend La Bajadilla and open it to cruise ships were to be carried out. Meanwhile, Al-Thani remains in Qatar leaving the project in the air.
