IT is disappointing that Málaga City Council is still obstructing progress on the metro by objecting to the sensible plan by the Junta to have the section from Guadalmedina to La Malagueta on the surface.
This will be much cheaper and quicker to implement than continuing underground.
The project has been taking far too long to complete and the mayor should be co-operating with the Regional Government to get the metro open and functioning.
The Metro vehicles are in any case trams of a type used at street level in many other Spanish cities, and the benefits they will bring to the city will be considerable.
