I MUST take issue with Mike Walsh’s gushing praise for Tehran. He surely isn’t that naive that the video he had ‘the privilege to watch’ would show the public hanging area where criminals and gays are strung up for all to see, or the stoning ground for adulterous women. As for Iraq it was peaceful he says, does he not remember that Saddam Hussein started two wars by invading Kuwait and Iran. Or that his son fed people who displeased him to his pet lions. As for Budapest he is correct it is beautiful, but once outside the city the old Stalinist blocks are much in evidence, and yes the folks are delightful, but poor as church mice.
