EARTHQUAKES were felt in the province of Valencia at the beginning of the week.
On Monday night Sollana (Valencia) was the epicentre of an earthquake that measured 2.7 on the Richter scale. This was the highest and four more were felt in nearby Silla between 5.51am and 4pm on Tuesday, ranging from 1.5 to 2.6 on the Richter scale.
Damage is rare at these levels but it is enough to be felt and many residents called the emergency services in panic fearing a repeat of the devastation that occurred in Lorca (Murcia) in May 2011.
Other towns where the tremours were felt and residents called 112 were Picassent and Benifaio, but nobody was hurt and no major property damage was caused.
