A heavy hail storm hit Malaga city around 5.30am this morning leaving sights unseen in the capital for many years.
A blanket of white hail covered cars and roads even in the centre reaching as far as Ciudad Jardin, and the exit to the toll road on the Ronda Oeste ring road was affected by snow.
Ronda, Antequera and other points in the province also woke to snow at altitudes of 500-600 metres. In the Axarquia the snow fell in Alfarnate and completely covered the mountains of La Maroma.
Heavy rain was registered in other areas. 35 litres per square metre fell in Benahavis, 17 in Malaga capital, 23 litres in the area or Malaga port, 23 litres in Antequera, 19 in Estepona, 15 in Fuengirola and 11 in Nerja.
