Socialists walk out after accusations
MEMBERS of the Socialist Party in Alhaurin de la Torre abandoned a council meeting following accusation of spending funds on “whores and cocaine.”
This came following a motion presented by the socialist party (PSOE) and left-wing party Izquierda Unida (IU) defending the independence of Andalucia which led to a debate regarding the Junta de Andalucia’s management of public funds.
Conservative Partido Popular (PP) councillor Salvador Herrera said that the Junta, currently run by the socialists, had spent funds for unemployment on “whores and cocaine,” in reference to a case which is being tried in court.
The four PSOE councillors and another from the Union Progreso y Democracia (UPyD) party abandoned the room. Their spokeswoman, Micaela Garcia, said that Herrera should worry more about how the PP spends local funds.
The PP mayor, Joaquin Villanova, said that the comments were not aimed at the local PSOE councillors, but Garcia responded that such comments should not be allowed.
