Fall of the Heroin Lord in Madrid

THE Guinean who supplied the so called Cañada Real “drugs supermarket” in Madrid has been arrested.

Known as the “Heroin Lord,” police also seized 45 kilos of the drug – one of the biggest hauls in recent years – from his Pedrezuela home.

He was identified almost by chance after he robbed five kilos of cocaine at gunpoint from two Spanish brothers in the Vicalvaro suburb.  The dealers, brothers, were wounded and police investigators originally believed that they were dealing with a routine settling of accounts.

Instead, their enquiries led them to the Guinean who was arrested in the early hours as he was allegedly about to make a 2.5 kilo delivery in the San Blas district.

The heroin, which came from the Netherlands, was distributed throughout Spain and Portugal, although the principal customers were gypsy clans in Cañada Real who deal the drug at street level.
